Kristin’s clients include health, utility and governmental organisations - most with legislative obligations to carry out in a declared emergency. Kristin works with them to ensure they are ready for any emergency situation.
She develops training programmes, facilitates exercises that test emergency plans and organisational relationships, critiques plans, and assists organisations to improve the emergency management components of their operations.
For over five years Kristin managed projects within the risk portfolio of the New Zealand Centre for Advanced Engineering. This resulted in several publications that brought together research and practice knowledge to shape best practice in a variety of risk based fields.
Kristin was involved in the coordinated response efforts following the 4 September 2010 Earthquake, the 26 December 2010 Aftershock, and the 22 February Christchurch Earthquake, primarily focusing on the coordination of building assessments and threats to roadways within the Christchurch CBD. Recently, Kristin worked with several clients to learn from the 4 September 2010 Canterbury Earthquake and its aftershocks. She has also spoken internationally on lessons learned from these earthquakes.
Kristin is the current president of the Oceania Council of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), as well as director of IAEM Global Membership & Marketing. Kristin is a former branch councillor of the Institution of Fire Engineers NZ.
