The Auckland CDEM Group commissioned an assessment of how local authorities (councils) in the Auckland region were undertaking risk reduction activities.
A gap analysis of risk reduction activity was undertaken and information collected through workshops, interviews and a comprehensive self assessment survey which allowed for benchmarking between councils. The gap analysis looked at activity concerning the establishment of risk management frameworks, hazard identification and risk assessment, and risk treatment options, communication and monitoring.
This project extended the evaluation methodology developed for the Assessment of Capacity and Capability of the Auckland region undertaken in 2006.
