Mass Evacuation Plan for the Auckland Region (December 2007)

Kestrel was contracted by the Auckland Region CDEM Group to prepare a Mass Evacuation Plan (> 1,000 people) for the Auckland Region.

Niue Island – Development of National Disaster Plan (October 2007)

Working with New Zealand's Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management, Kestrel took the existing Niue Cyclone Contingency Plan, and developed an all-hazards readiness and response plan, as well as event- and impact-specific contingency plans. This included a couple of workshops with key stakeholders in Niue to better understand the vulnerabilities and capacity of Niue to respond to, and recover from, a disaster.

Maritime New Zealand - BCP Development and Training (October 2007)

In 2006 Maritime New Zealand undertook to consolidate and recast their team based business continuity arrangements into a whole of organisation business continuity plan. Kestrel Group was engaged to develop the structure of the new plan and to work with Corporate Services to update Resumption Team profiles within the new BCP.

Kestrel was also engaged to provide training for Maritime New Zealand Resumption Teams on the principles of business continuity and the implementation of the MNZ BCP.

Risk Reduction Gap Analysis and Reporting Framework for the Auckland Region (July 2007)

The Auckland CDEM Group commissioned an assessment of how local authorities (councils) in the Auckland region were undertaking risk reduction activities.

A gap analysis of risk reduction activity was undertaken and information collected through workshops, interviews and a comprehensive self assessment survey which allowed for benchmarking between councils. The gap analysis looked at activity concerning the establishment of risk management frameworks, hazard identification and risk assessment, and risk treatment options, communication and monitoring.

Greater Wellington Regional Council - Flood Procedures Operations Plan

Kestrel Group was engaged to develop an operations plan for GWRC field staff who respond to flooding emergencies in the western Wellington region. The project involved identifying roles and responsibilities, trigger points for key actions, and priorities for flood response activities.

Northland CDEM Group - Marsden Point Community Response Plan (November 2005)

Kestrel Group was engaged to develop a community response plan for emergencies occurring in the Marsden Point Area; an area unique due to the industrial and natural hazards that it is vulnerable to. Plan development involved identifying management structures, incident facilities and levels of emergency response.
