Volunteering

We encourage our Kestrels to get involved in voluntary work to allow them to develop and grow in areas that they may not always have the opportunity to work on with client projects. Our personnel are currently involved in a diverse range of voluntary emergency management projects - from ongoing involvement with professional organisations through to specific and topical projects.

Currently Kestrels are involved in the following volunteer activities:

Gavin Treadgold

  • Board & Project Management Committee member for the Sahana Project - a global effort to develop a free and open source disaster management information system.
  • Contributor to the W3C Disaster Management Incubator Group to develop computer readable emergency management terminology to improve interoperability.
  • Webmaster for the IAEM Oceania website, Ad-hoc Committee Member for the IAEM Oceania Region, and assisted with the formation of the Oceania Region
  • Member of the IAEM Global Editorial Committee

Kristin Hoskin

  • Branch Councillor of the New Zealand (NZ) Branch of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), committee member of the Canterbury Group of the NZ Branch of the IFE
  • IAEM Oceania Region Vice President and member of Oceania Regional Administration & Website, and Membership & Events Subcommittees.
  • IAEM Global Editorial Committee Member, and Membership & Marketing Committee Member
